Mandi: Rain is expected in several districts of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, with the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, forecasting light to moderate rainfall at some places across the state. An alert for light to moderate rain has also been issued for Mandi district.
The weather department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall at isolated places over the next four days.
Rain Expected in Lower, Mid-Hill Areas
Rain may occur at some places in the lower and mid-hill regions on Saturday, while light rain is expected at isolated locations in high-altitude areas. Rainfall activity is likely to remain relatively low in Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts.
Monsoon activity in the state is expected to intensify from August 30. A spell of light to moderate rainfall may continue at several places from August 30 to September 3.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall at isolated places on August 31, September 1, 2 and 3.
Risk of Landslides and Debris Fall
With rainfall expected to increase, there is a risk of landslides and debris falling in hilly areas. The Meteorological Department has advised people to exercise caution, particularly in vulnerable zones.
During heavy rain, water levels and flow in rivers and streams are also likely to rise.
Temperature Changes Likely
No major change in minimum temperatures is expected over the next 3–4 days. Similarly, maximum temperatures are unlikely to see significant changes during the next 48 hours, although a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius may occur thereafter.
Overall, the weather is expected to remain relatively normal on Saturday, while rainfall activity is likely to intensify across Himachal Pradesh in the coming days.
