Himachal Pradesh to Receive Rain and Snow From January 22–23, Ending Dry Spell

Shimla: The prolonged dry spell in Himachal Pradesh is about to end. The Meteorological Department has predicted snowfall in the higher elevations and rain in the central and lower regions of Himachal Pradesh on January 22nd and 23rd. This is expected to bring relief from drought-like conditions in the state.

Over the past 24 hours, Tabo remained cold, recording a temperature of -2.6 degrees Celsius, while Kukumseri recorded a temperature of -1.6 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in Dharamsala, Bilaspur, Solan, and Una also remained quite low.

Western disturbance will become active from tonight

According to the Meteorological Center Shimla, the weather will begin to change from the night of January 19th due to the activation of a western disturbance. Light to moderate snowfall is possible in the higher reaches on January 22nd, while light to moderate rain and snowfall is expected at many places on January 23rd.

According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, snowfall is expected in Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, upper Chamba, and higher elevations of Kullu and Shimla districts. Light rain is expected in the mid-mountain and lower regions. The extent of the rain and snowfall is expected to increase further on January 23rd.

Prediction of increase in temperature

Before the rain and snowfall, the minimum temperature may rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. However, after this, temperatures are expected to drop by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius over the next few days. Severe cold may increase in the higher altitudes.

At this time, the weather department has not issued any warnings. However, people traveling to high altitude areas have been advised to exercise caution.
