Himachal Pradesh has received 60 percent more rainfall than normal over the past week, and there is no relief expected in the next five days. The Meteorological Department has forecast snowfall in high-altitude areas and light rain in mid-altitude regions on Thursday.

Yellow Alert for Thunderstorms in Key Districts

A yellow alert for thunderstorms has been issued for Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Chamba. Winds of up to 30–40 kilometers per hour are expected in these districts.

According to the Meteorological Department, the current Western Disturbance will weaken by Friday, bringing only light drizzle to higher altitude areas. However, starting March 28, a strong Western Disturbance is expected to become active again, affecting the entire state.

Heavy Rain and Storm Warnings for 29–30 March

An alert for heavy rain and snowfall has been issued across Himachal Pradesh, particularly on March 29 and 30. Thunderstorm warnings cover all 10 districts except Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur. Hailstorms are also predicted in many areas, posing a risk to crops and horticulture.

Rain and snowfall are expected to continue in high- and mid-altitude areas on March 31 as well. Following these weather changes, temperatures are predicted to drop across the state.
