The Himachal Pradesh government has carried out a significant reshuffle in the police department, transferring and posting eight Indian Police Service (IPS) officers with immediate effect. The notification, issued by the Department of Home (Section-D) on the recommendations of the Civil Services Board, aims to strengthen law and order administration and streamline policing across the state.

The order was issued from Shimla and approved by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. The transfers involve officers serving in key positions, including Inspector General of Police (IGP), Superintendent of Police (SP), and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP).
Among the major changes, Abhishek Dular (IPS: 2006), who was serving as Inspector General of Police, Communication and Technical Services, Hamirpur, has been appointed as Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), Shimla. He will also hold the additional charge of Inspector General of Police (Armed Police and Training), Daroh, Kangra.
The move places Dular in one of the most crucial policing assignments in the state, overseeing law-and-order matters and police training functions simultaneously.
Dr. D.K. Chaudhary (IPS: 2008), previously serving as Inspector General of Police (Armed Police and Training), Daroh, has been transferred as Inspector General of Police, Communication and Technical Services, Hamirpur.

The reshuffle also affects Bilaspur district, where Abhishek (IPS: 2021), previously Additional Superintendent of Police, Shimla, has been appointed Superintendent of Police, Bilaspur.
Gauravjeet Singh (IPS: 2022), who was serving as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Nadaun in Hamirpur district, has been elevated and posted as Additional Superintendent of Police, Shimla district.
Officials said the transfers are part of the government’s routine administrative exercise aimed at improving operational efficiency and ensuring effective policing across districts.
The latest reshuffle comes at a time when the state government is focusing on enhancing police administration, improving coordination among districts, and strengthening law-and-order mechanisms. By assigning experienced officers to key posts, the government hopes to improve service delivery, crime control, and public safety.
The transferred officers have been directed to assume charge of their new assignments immediately. The Home Department has circulated the notification to all concerned departments, senior police officials, and district administrations for necessary compliance.
