Himachal Pradesh: State receives 79% less rainfall than normal in February

Himachal Pradesh received 78 percent less rainfall than normal in February and 32 percent less than normal for the entire winter season. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the normal rainfall between February 1 and 17 is 64.1 mm, but this time, only 14.4 mm of rainfall was recorded.

Solan district received 93 percent less rainfall than normal. Shimla and Una received 92 percent, Bilaspur 89 percent, Kangra 86 percent, and Chamba 83 percent less than normal. Similarly, between January 1 and February 19, 101.9 mm of rainfall was recorded, compared to the normal 149.4 mm of rainfall.

Light snowfall expected in the high mountains on the 23rd

There is no possibility of significant rain or snowfall for the next week. However, light snowfall is expected in the higher mountains on February 23rd, while other areas will remain clear. Sunny skies are forecast for most parts of the state over the next 72 hours. Clear weather will prevail today, tomorrow, and the day after, leading to a slight increase in temperatures.

Kangra’s temperature is 9 degrees above normal

The minimum and maximum temperatures in all cities across the state are already above normal. The state’s average minimum temperature is 3 degrees above normal, and the maximum temperature is 5.1 degrees above normal. Kangra’s maximum temperature recorded the highest increase of 9.1 degrees, reaching 27.2 degrees Celsius.

Kalpa’s temperature is 14.5 degrees, 7.9 degrees above normal. Manali’s temperature is 17.4 degrees, 5.6 degrees above normal, Mandi’s temperature is 25.8 degrees, 4.8 degrees above normal. Shimla’s maximum temperature is 17.2 degrees Celsius, 3.9 degrees above normal.
