Himachal Pradesh: 13-year-old boy hangs himself after denied mobile phone by mother

A tragic incident has come to light involving a 13-year-old boy who committed suicide by hanging himself out of frustration over being denied a mobile phone. The incident has cast a pall of grief and anxiety over the region.

According to reports, the Sadar Police Station received information from the RH Hospital in Bilaspur stating that a child had been brought to the District Hospital in an unconscious state.

Upon receiving the information, the police rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation into the matter. During the inquiry, it was revealed that the deceased, identified as Sachin (13)—son of Satveer Singh—hailed from the village of Mallpur Siddhri. It is reported that Sachin had been persistently pestering his mother to give him a mobile phone. As his examinations were underway, his mother refused to hand over the device, citing the need for him to focus on his studies.

Hanged Himself Using His Mother’s Saree 
Angered by being denied the mobile phone, he retreated to his room shortly thereafter. While inside, he tied his mother’s saree to a hook fixed in the ceiling and hanged himself. When he failed to emerge from the room for a considerable period, his family members grew suspicious. Upon entering the room, they found him hanging from the noose.

The family members immediately brought him down and rushed him to the District Hospital in Bilaspur for treatment; however, the doctors there pronounced him dead.

Police Hand Over Body to Family After Post-Mortem
Upon receiving news of the incident, the police arrived at the hospital, commenced their investigation, and recorded the statements of the family members. The police stated that, following the completion of the post-mortem examination, the body has been handed over to the family.
