Himachal Pradesh Weather: Dry Spell Continues, Light Snowfall Expected in Higher Reaches

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh has been experiencing dry weather since December 15. The Meteorological Centre has predicted dry weather in most parts of the state till December 20. However, light rain and snowfall are expected in high altitude areas on December 17 and 20.

The minimum temperature is expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature is expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius across the state in the next 2-3 days. The maximum temperature is expected to gradually increase by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the next 4-5 days.

Weak Western Disturbance May Activate

The Meteorological Department has said that a new weak Western Disturbance may activate in the West Himalayan region on the night of December 17. As a result, scattered rains and snowfall are likely in the higher elevation areas of the state on December 17 and 20. The weather is expected to remain dry throughout the week in the lower hills and plains.

No significant change in temperature, signs of increasing cold

No significant change has been observed in the minimum temperature across the state in the last 24 hours. However, a drop is expected in the next one or two days. The minimum temperature in the lower hills and plains has increased by 2-3 degrees, while the temperature in the middle and high hills has remained almost constant.

During the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature across the state ranged from -4 to 12 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Kukumseri at -4.3 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was recorded in Paonta Sahib at 23 degrees Celsius.

Bilaspur likely to experience dense fog in the morning

According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is likely to occur in the Bhakra Dam area of ​​Bilaspur district, Balh valley of Mandi and surrounding areas from December 15 in the morning and late night. Light fog may also be seen in some other valleys. Drivers have been advised to exercise extreme caution.

Cold winds, snowfall possible in higher altitude areas

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cold winds have prevailed in the state during the last 24 hours. Gusts of up to 37 kmph were recorded in Tabo region. There has been no rain or snowfall anywhere in the state.

The Meteorological Department said that the weather will remain dry in the lower and mid-hill areas from December 15 to December 20, while light snowfall is expected in the higher altitude areas. In view of the increasing cold, people have been advised to exercise extra caution during the morning and evening hours.
