Himachal Pradesh Faces March-Like Heat; Rain and Snow Expected After Feb 27

Shimla: The weather in Himachal Pradesh will remain completely clear for the next three days. This will further increase the temperature. Most cities in the state are already experiencing above-normal maximum and minimum temperatures. This is causing a March-like heat during the day

The state’s average maximum temperature is 4.1 degrees above normal, and the minimum temperature is 1.8 degrees above normal. Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded the highest increase of 7.1 degrees above normal, reaching a maximum temperature of 14.5 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature of Keylong also increased by 6.7 degrees compared to normal and the mercury reached 5.7 degrees, Shimla’s mercury reached 17.6 degrees after a rise of 4.2 degrees, Bhuntar’s temperature reached 24.8 degrees after a rise of 5.7 degrees, Kangra’s temperature reached 25.4 degrees Celsius after a rise of 5.1 degrees.

Similarly, the maximum rise of 3.3 degrees in minimum temperature was recorded in Shimla and the night temperature reached 7.5 degrees Celsius.

Chances of rain and snowfall from February 27

According to the Meteorological Department, a fresh Western Disturbance is becoming active from February 27th. This is expected to bring light rain and snowfall to the higher elevations of the state on February 27th and 28th. During this time, the weather will be poor in Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti districts. Clear weather is forecast in other areas.

February saw 81% less rainfall than normal

The state has received very little rain and snowfall this winter. Rainfall was 37 percent less than normal during the winter season, and 81 percent less than normal in February. The state’s normal rainfall between February 1st and 23rd is 77.7 mm, but this time, only 14.6 mm of rain fell.
