Himachal Weather: Dry Spell Continues, Light Snow Expected on Dec 8

The weather in Himachal Pradesh remains completely dry these days. No rain or snowfall was recorded in any part of the state during the last 24 hours. Eight cities in the state recorded temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius, with Kukumseri recording the lowest temperature of -5.6 degrees Celsius.

According to the Shimla Meteorological Department, most areas remained sunny during the day, while fog covered some plains in the morning. The Meteorological Department has forecast clear weather throughout the state today.

Chances of rain and snow tomorrow

According to the IMD, the weather may change in the upper reaches of Chamba, Kinnaur, and Kullu on December 8th, with light rain or snowfall expected in some higher elevations. After this, the weather is expected to remain clear throughout the state from December 9th to 12th. Rain is not expected in the lower and mid-mountain areas.

The Meteorological Department has predicted dense fog in parts of Mandi and Bilaspur late at night and early in the morning. In view of this, drivers have been advised to exercise caution.

Mercury below 5 degrees in 8 cities

Talking about the minimum temperature in the state, the mercury has dropped below 5 degrees Celsius in 8 cities of the state. Kukumseri recorded the lowest temperature of -5.6 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, minimum temperature of -0.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Kalpa, -4.4 degrees Celsius in Tabo, 2.2 degrees Celsius in Narkanda, 1.1 degrees Celsius in Manali, 1.5 degrees Celsius in Bhuntar, 2.1 degrees Celsius in Rekongpeo and 1.4 degrees Celsius in Bajaura. The minimum temperature of Shimla was 8.6 degrees Celsius, which is about 2 degrees more than normal.

Kangra was the hottest with a maximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. Shimla recorded a day temperature of 15 degrees Celsius. Dharamsala recorded 23, Una 23.6, Hamirpur 23.6, Mandi 20.2 and Manali 14.4 degrees Celsius.

Maximum temperatures remained around normal in most places. The weather is expected to remain dry and clear for the next four to five days in the state. Only light snowfall or rain is possible in the higher elevations on December 8th.
