Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: Light Snowfall in Hills; Temperatures Drop Below 10°C

Shimla: Light snowfall is expected in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh today, and drizzle in the plains. The weather will remain poor in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, and Kinnaur districts. Clear weather is forecast in other districts. The Meteorological Center, Shimla, has issued a yellow alert for fog in the lower reaches of Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Una, and Solan until 10 a.m. today.

Morning and evening fog in these districts could cause visibility to drop below 100 meters. Dense fog is forecast, particularly in the Balh Valley of Mandi, Sundernagar, along the Beas River, and around the Bhakra Dam in Bilaspur. Drivers are advised to exercise caution.

Kukumseri’s temperature dropped to minus 5.9 degrees.

A cold wave in the higher elevations and fog in the lower elevations has resulted in severe cold in the mornings, evenings, and nights. As a result, night temperatures in 25 cities have dropped below 10 degrees. Kukumseri and Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti are experiencing sub-zero temperatures. Kukumseri is at minus 5.9 degrees Celsius and Tabo is at minus 2.7 degrees Celsius.

Due to fog, the plains of the state have become colder than Shimla. The minimum temperature of Shimla is 8.5 degrees Celsius, while Sundernagar of Mandi is 3.1 degrees, Bhuntar 3.6, Kalpa 0.4, Dharamshala 7.8, Una 5.6, Palampur 5.5, Solan 3.2, Manali 3.7, Kangra 6.6, Mandi 4.1, Bilaspur 7.6, Hamirpur 4.0, Barthi 6.2 degrees and Dehra Gopipur 7.0 was recorded.
