Himachal Pradesh Weather: Light Rain, Snowfall Expected in High-Altitude Areas

Shimla: According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, light rain and snowfall is likely in Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and higher areas of Mandi, Kangra and Kullu today. This weather brings relief to those living in higher areas.

Dry weather in lower and mid-hill areas

The weather will remain dry in the rest of the state, especially the plains and mid-hill areas. Shimla and surrounding areas are expected to remain partly cloudy.

Weak Western Disturbance

The active Western Disturbance has weakened in the state, due to which widespread rain or heavy snowfall is not likely. Light to moderate fog is likely in Mandi (Balh Valley) and Bilaspur (Bhakhra Dam area), which may affect the morning visibility.

Temperature change due to rain and snowfall

According to weather experts, there will be no significant change in the minimum temperature. However, the maximum temperature may drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius in the next 1-2 days due to rain or snowfall in higher areas.

Coldest areas and forecast

The lowest temperature in the state was recorded at -6.2 degrees Celsius in Tabo. The weather is expected to clear after December 15, and cold conditions will persist in higher areas.
