Himachal Rain: 328 roads closed due to landslides, two bridges damaged due to floods in Mayad Valley

The havoc of rain continues in Himachal Pradesh. Hundreds of roads are blocked due to landslides at various places. In the Mayad Valley of Lahaul-Spiti, there was a sudden flood in the drains of Karpat, Changut, Urgos and Tingret villages due to the melting of glaciers due to heat. The crops standing in the fields have also been damaged due to the strong flow of flood.

Another bridge including Urgos was damaged due to the flood. However, the matter of relief is that there is no report of any loss of life. After the flood water entered many parts of the village, the villagers migrated to safer places and took shelter in higher areas. Naib Tehsildar Udaipur Ramdayal said that the damage caused by the flood will be assessed.

Trees fell near Toland

At the same time, three deodar trees fell on the gate of the Forest Department Headquarters near Toland in Shimla in the morning. Due to this the traffic came to a standstill. Traffic was restored by removing the trees. 328 roads including two national highways remained closed in the state till 10:00 am on Wednesday. Apart from this, 37 electricity transformers and 181 water supply schemes are also affected. 180 roads and 71 water supply schemes are disrupted in the disaster-affected Mandi district. The Arki-Manjhu road was closed due to landslide. People had to face a lot of trouble due to the road being closed.

240 people have lost their lives in the monsoon so far

240 people have lost their lives in the state from 20 June to 12 August in this monsoon season. 324 people have been injured. 36 people are still missing. During this period, 115 people have died in road accidents. 2,435 kutcha-pucca houses, shops have been damaged so far due to cloudburst, landslide, flood. 1,993 cow shelters have also been damaged. 1,615 domestic animals have died. The total figure of loss has reached Rs 2,01,182.92 lakh.
