Himachal rain alert for 2 days, yellow alert in 4 districts

The weather has changed again in Himachal Pradesh. There has been light drizzle in several parts of the state. The weather is also forecasted to remain bad on Saturday and Sunday. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla. In these areas, along with rain, strong winds and hail in some places are also expected.

According to the IMD, light snowfall may occur in the high-altitude areas, while there are chances of rain in the lower and medium-altitude regions. During this period, storms and hail with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are also forecasted in some areas.

The weather remained bad in many parts of the state over the past 24 hours, resulting in a sharp drop in temperature. The maximum temperature in Bhuntar, Kullu, was recorded at 22.4 degrees Celsius after a decrease of 8.2 degrees. The temperature in Manali also remained at 18.0 degrees after falling by 6.4 degrees.

Similarly, in Sundernagar, the temperature was recorded at 28.2 degrees after a drop of 4.6 degrees, and in Mandi, it was recorded at 27.7 degrees after falling by 5.3 degrees. A decrease in temperature was observed in other cities as well, causing the cold to be felt once again.

Western disturbance will remain active until April 20

The Meteorological Department has indicated that on April 20, the weather is likely to remain bad in high and mid-altitude areas. However, from April 21, clear weather and sunshine are expected across the state. Meanwhile, from April 23, signs of changing weather are again being seen in the higher hilly areas.

52% more rainfall than normal in April

In the state, April has seen 52 percent more rainfall than normal. Normally, 37.9 millimeters of rain occur between April 1 and 17, but this time 57.6 millimeters of rain has already fallen. Light rain is also expected to continue for the next three days.
