Himachal: RERA Office to Shift from Shimla to Dharamshala Before June 15

The office of the Himachal Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) is set to be relocated from Shimla to Dharamshala before June 15. Preparations for this move have been expedited at both the state government and administrative levels. The RERA office will operate from the premises of the Dharamshala Municipal Corporation. To this end, a team comprising RERA members and officials will visit Dharamshala on June 1 to inspect the arrangements and finalize the selection of the available office space. RERA has already commenced the packing of files at its current office.

In the initial phase, essential items will be dispatched to Dharamshala. Meanwhile, preparations are also underway to relocate the Mining Wing of the Department of Industries to the Majitha House building in Shimla.

Currently, this wing operates out of a private building. The government aims to reduce unnecessary rental expenditure by shifting departmental offices into government-owned buildings. To facilitate this, reports regarding the availability of buildings and necessary amenities have been sought from the respective departments.

The decision to shift the RERA office to Dharamshala had previously sparked controversy following a Cabinet resolution. The matter regarding this decision eventually reached the Supreme Court. During the court hearings, the government presented its arguments in support of the office’s relocation. Issuing its orders on the matter, the Supreme Court has directed that the process of shifting the RERA office to Dharamshala be allowed to proceed.
