Himachal: 55 Retired Professors to provide services at four Himachal Medical Colleges; Applications invited

Shimla: To strengthen teaching and healthcare services across four medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh, 55 professors are being deployed. The Himachal Pradesh government has invited applications from retired professors for 23 different departments within these medical colleges.

As per the information, fifteen professors will be appointed at Hamirpur Medical College, while Nerchowk Medical College will see the highest number of vacancies filled, with 16 positions.

Additionally, 12 professors each are slated for deployment at the Nahan and Chamba Medical Colleges. Through these appointments, an effort is being made to fill long-standing vacancies and ensure that students are given quality education.

    Only Retired professors are eligible

Only retired professors will be considered eligible for these positions. This is done to ensure that the institutions can once again benefit from the services of experienced and expert doctors.

This decision has been taken specifically to address the shortage of faculty in specialized medical disciplines. The scarcity of professors in these medical colleges has been adversely affecting both academic instruction and patient care.  Selected professors will receive a monthly remuneration of up to ₹2.50 lakh.

Candidates selected for appointment will also be required to submit an undertaking. This arrangement will be on a contractual basis, and services will be engaged for a specific, predetermined duration only.

The Health Department has urged eligible candidates to submit their applications in a timely manner so that the recruitment process can be expedited and the vacancies filled promptly.

This government initiative is being hailed as a significant step toward strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
