Himachal: 601 roads closed after landslides, house collapsed to ground in Hamirpur

Difficulties due to rain continue in Himachal Pradesh. Hundreds of roads are closed due to landslides in various places in the state. Apart from this, the problems of people in many rural areas have increased due to the shutdown of hundreds of electricity transformers.

601 roads, including three national highways, remained closed in the state till 10:00 am on Monday. 500 electricity transformers and 184 water supply schemes are also affected. 172 roads are closed in Kullu district, 201 in Mandi and 57 in Shimla.

At the same time, there has been a loss of lakhs of rupees due to the collapse of a cowshed in Ward-1 under Nagar Parishad Kangra. A scooter, a car, and two cows also got buried under the debris due to the collapse of the cowshed. As soon as the information was received, the administration team immediately reached the spot and started the rescue operation. In Hamirpur, a slate-roofed house collapsed, and a mother and daughter were buried under the debris.

Landslides at many places on Bharmour-Pathankot highway, trees fall
After heavy rains on the Bharmour-Pathankot highway, the movement of vehicles was disrupted due to landslides and the falling of trees at many places. Landslides occurred last night near Naini Khad, Tunnuhatti, due to heavy rains.

Due to this, long lines of small and big vehicles were formed on the highway. Due to the slowdown, drivers and passengers had to sit in their vehicles and wait for the highway to be restored. Executive Engineer of NH Division Meet Sharma said that due to heavy rains, the speed of vehicles has slowed down due to the falling of trees and debris on the highway.

The difficulties of the people have increased due to the disruption of 29 roads, 26 transformers, and 26 drinking water schemes in the district. Departmental teams are engaged in making the derailed services smooth.
