Himachal: 376 roads including two NHs closed due after landslides

Difficulties have increased due to continuous rain in many parts of Himachal Pradesh. Due to landslides and floods, 376 roads, including two national highways, remained closed in the state till 10:00 am on Saturday. 524 electricity transformers and 145 water supply schemes are also affected in the state. Due to this, the electricity and drinking water supply have stopped in many areas.

Mandi district has the highest number of 203 roads, 458 electricity transformers and 44 water supply schemes affected. At present, the weather is also bad in Shimla. Traffic remained halted in the morning due to landslide near the TCP office in Vikasnagar of the city. Vehicles also got trapped under the debris here.

Chandigarh-Manali National Highway is closed

Chandigarh-Manali National Highway has again been closed for traffic. The highway has been closed due to incidents of landslides at many places from Mandi to Panarsa. Landslides have occurred in Nau Mile, Jagar Nala, Kainchi Mor near Pandoh Dam, Dayod, Jogni Mata Temple, Dwada Flyover, Jhalogi, and Shani Mandir area.

At some places, drain water and debris are flowing on the highway. Due to the closure of the highway, a large number of vehicles and people were stranded. Right now, the rain is continuing due to which the work of removing the debris could not be started. As soon as the rain stops, the work of removing the debris will start. The havoc of continuous rain is being seen in Mandi district for the last three days.

Although, the rain is happening intermittently, but due to this, incidents of landslides are happening continuously on the highway.

Four lane sinks again near Police Line, danger increased

The four-lane is continuously sinking near Police Line Solan. Cracks have again appeared due to the rain here yesterday. These cracks have become quite big. Even before this, there were slight cracks here, and one lane has been closed for a long time. Despite this, now there is a danger of this road collapsing completely. Questions were already being raised on the construction of the four-lane highways here. The construction company had prepared the four-lane highway on raw soil, which started sinking soon after it was built.
