Himachal: Robotic surgery facility started at IGMC Shimla, operation will be done in Rs 30 thousand

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday inaugurated a high-end robotic surgery facility at IGMC, Shimla, established at a cost of Rs 28.44 crore. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that following the successful launch of state-of-the-art robotic surgery facilities at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Chamiana, in Shimla district, Tanda, in Kangra district, and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Nerchowk, in Mandi district, this facility will now be available to patients at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla.

The Chief Minister said that this facility will further strengthen advanced surgical procedures in areas such as general surgery, gastroenterology, oncology, and gynecology, and will also reduce incisions, leading to faster recovery. Patients across the state will have access to state-of-the-art and precise treatment closer to their homes.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to providing world-class healthcare services to the public and that lack of funds will not be a hindrance in strengthening the health sector. He added that advanced medical labs are being established at IGMC, Chamiana, and Tanda Medical Colleges. Additionally, a state-of-the-art 3-Tesla MRI machine has been installed at IGMC, which is proving beneficial to patients. He said that for patients undergoing robotic surgery, a fee of ₹50,000 has been set for the special ward and ₹30,000 for the general ward.
