Himachal Havildar Vishambar Singh Laid to Rest with Full Military Honours; 11-Year-Old Son Performs Last Rites

Una, Himachal Pradesh: Emotional scenes were witnessed in Malangad Mian village of Una district as Indian Army Havildar Vishambar Singh was laid to rest with full military honours on Tuesday, with his 11-year-old son Akshit performing the last rites.

The soldier’s body reached his home at around 8:30 a.m., after which family members, including his mother Sheela Devi and wife Sonia Devi, broke down and embraced the coffin. Both were inconsolable and repeatedly fainted while mourning.

The body was kept at home briefly for final rituals before being taken for cremation, where hundreds of people gathered to pay their last respects.

Son Lights Father’s Pyre

In a deeply emotional moment, Vishambar Singh’s elder son Akshit lit the funeral pyre, as family members and villagers looked on in grief. Slogans of “Vishambar Singh Amar Rahe” echoed during the funeral procession.

Served in Army for 18 Years

Havildar Vishambar Singh had joined the Indian Army’s Artillery Regiment in July 2008 and had served for nearly 18 years. He leaves behind his parents, wife, and two sons aged 11 years and six months.

His father, Rasila Ram, a retired Subedar from the JAK Rifles, was also part of the Army background family. The news of Vishambar’s death reached the family while his father was in Chandigarh.

Family’s Earlier Tragedy

The family had already suffered a major loss five years ago with the death of Vishambar’s younger brother, who was also in the Army, deepening the family’s grief.

Final Moments and Military Tribute

According to reports, Vishambar Singh had been on duty in Dehradun and participated in routine training before his health suddenly deteriorated while returning on a bicycle. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Senior officials, army personnel, and local leaders attended the funeral and paid floral tributes. The ceremony was conducted with full state and military honours.

Havildar Vishambar Singh, who served the Indian Army for nearly two decades, was given a tearful farewell in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district, where his young son performed the final rites amid deep emotional grief.
