Himachal: Specialist doctors will be recruited in medical colleges, govt seek information about vacant posts

Infrastructure will be developed in Himachal’s medical colleges. Specialist doctors (professors, associates, and assistants) are being recruited in these colleges. Five to six specialists will be deployed in each department. The state government has requested data on vacant specialist doctor positions in all colleges.

State-of-the-art MRI and PET scans are to be installed in all colleges, along with the introduction of robotic surgery. Staff recruitment is underway. The government has begun purchasing equipment for medical colleges, spending ₹300 crore on this. Himachal’s health system is being strengthened to ensure that Himachal patients do not have to travel to other states for treatment.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu recently issued directives to officials to strengthen health services. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that medical colleges are being equipped with modern machinery. Old equipment is being replaced in medical colleges and hospitals, and AIIMS Delhi-level machines are being installed.

He informed that robotic surgery facilities have been introduced at Chamiyana and Tanda Medical Colleges for a mere ₹30,000, while private hospitals typically offer this facility for ₹200,000. He added that this modern medical facility has been launched at Chamiyana. Emphasis is being placed on expanding this facility to every medical college in Himachal.

Deployment of Specialist Doctors in Model Hospitals
Model hospitals are being opened in every assembly constituency in Himachal. In the first phase, these hospitals have been opened in 44 assembly constituencies. In the second phase, 15 Model Hospitals are being opened. Six specialist doctors (gynecology, pediatrics, surgery, medicine, orthopedics, and radiology) are being deployed in these hospitals.
