Himachal: Swift Car Falls Into Ravi River, One Intern Doctor Dead

Shimla: A major accident occurred at 3 a.m. Sunday on the Chamba-Pathankot National Highway in Himachal Pradesh. A Swift car plunged into the Ravi River at Parel Ghar. Four intern doctors from Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Chamba, were in the car.

In the accident, intern doctor Akhilesh, a resident of Badsar village in Hamirpur, died on the spot, while intern Ishika, a resident of Rohru in Shimla, was swept away by the river’s strong current. Rishant of Shimla and Divyank of Solan were injured. Both are undergoing treatment at Medical College, Chamba.

The four interns were returning to Chamba. The car lost control and fell into the river near Parel. Chamba Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav confirmed the incident. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
