Himachal: Talks between the HRTC union and government failed; strike to begin from June 24

A meeting held on Tuesday between the Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) Employees’ Union and the state government failed to yield any result. Following the inconclusive talks, the union has announced a state-wide bus strike starting at midnight on June 24.

The union states that outstanding employee allowances amounting to approximately ₹100 crore have remained unpaid for a long time. The government had previously been given a deadline of June 24 to address this issue; however, as the demands were not met, the union has decided to go on strike.

HRTC Employees’ Union President Man Singh stated that a meeting had been scheduled with the Additional Chief Secretary of the Transport Department, but it failed to reach a conclusion. He alleged that the employees’ demands were not taken seriously during the meeting and also expressed displeasure over his own transfer.

According to the union, if the government does not find a solution soon, the operation of HRTC buses across the state will be disrupted from midnight on June 24. This could cause inconvenience to thousands of passengers.
