Himachal: Teachers’ organizations meet CM, Edu Minister; five-point demand letter submitted

In Himachal Pradesh, teacher organizations presented a five-point memorandum of demands to the Chief Minister and Education Minister regarding the CBSE issue. On Wednesday, a joint delegation of the Joint Teachers Federation of Himachal Pradesh met with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Education Minister Rohit Thakur to discuss important issues related to the CBSE.

The joint delegation was led by Ajay Negi, President of the Himachal Pradesh School Lecturers Association. The delegation included Hari Sharma, President of the Principals Association; Ratan Verma, President of the Headmasters Association; Ajay Negi, President of the Himachal Pradesh School Lecturers Association; Inder Thakur, General Secretary; Surender Pundir, Chairman; Narottam Verma and Mahavir Kaithla, State Presidents of HGTU; Sunil Kumar, State President of Sarva TGT Mahasangh; Rajesh Sharma, Vice President; Ramesh Sharma, State President of PTF; Rajneesh Kaushik, General Secretary; Ram Singh, Senior Vice President; Anil Bhatia, Finance Secretary; Sher Singh, President of the C&V Teachers Association; and Chandrakesh Dhiman, President of the Science Teachers Association.

Chief Press Secretary Jairam Sharma further stated that the Chief Minister and Education Minister assured the delegation that all issues concerning teachers related to the CBSE would be considered seriously.

The Chief Minister clarified that the CBSE system would be implemented keeping in mind the interests of both teachers and students, and that under no circumstances would the promotions and seniority of teachers be affected.

The delegation was also assured that necessary amendments would be made to the notification issued on January 19, keeping in mind the interests of the teachers. Furthermore, in district headquarters and sub-divisions where there is a large number of students in boys’ and girls’ senior secondary schools, the delegation was assured that these would be converted into co-educational institutions, with one school affiliated with the CBSE and the other with the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education, so that students can pursue their education according to their preference.
