Impact of floods in Punjab, Delhi, Haryana; Tourism business in Himachal stalled

Due to floods in Punjab, Delhi, and Haryana, the tourism business of Himachal has come to a standstill. Even for religious tourism, devotees are reaching the Shaktipeeths of Himachal in very small numbers. The number of tourists in trains coming from Kalka to Shimla is very less.

Gajendra Singh Thakur, President of the Federation of Himachal Hotel and Restaurants Association, says that the tourism business has come to a standstill due to floods in the plains and the bad condition of roads after the disaster in Himachal.

Rajendra Thakur, Chairman of All Himachal Commercial Vehicle Joint Action Committee, said that due to floods in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi, tourist bookings for Himachal have completely stopped.

However, it is also being linked to the beginning of Shraadhpaksh. On Sunday, only 3,950 devotees reached to have Devi Darshan. During this period, 150 devotees visited Bajeshwari temple in Kangra, 3,000 devotees visited the Jwalamukhi temple, and 800 devotees visitedthe  Shri Chamunda Nandikeshwar temple.
