Sunny spell in Himachal till Apr 15, rain likely after

There is relief for the weather in Himachal Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather will remain completely clear from April 13 to 15. During this period, there are chances of good sunshine, which will also result in a slight rise in temperature.

However, this relief will not last for long, as a western disturbance is set to become active once again from April 16, due to which rainfall is likely in several parts of the state until April 18.

Above-normal rainfall recorded in April
This time, the state has recorded considerably more rainfall than usual in the month of April. According to the IMD, where normally 25.4 millimeters of rain occurs between April 1 and 12, this time 58 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded so far, which is 128 percent above normal.

In Una, there has been 307 percent more rainfall. Looking at district-wise figures, Bilaspur has recorded 851 percent more rainfall than normal. Solan has seen 562 percent, Sirmaur 424 percent, Shimla 329 percent, Mandi 324 percent, and Una 307 percent more rainfall.

Cold in the mountains even in April
Due to continuous rainfall, snowfall, and hailstorm, the high-altitude areas of the state are still experiencing cold in the mornings and evenings. The state’s average minimum temperature has been recorded 2.9 degrees Celsius below normal, and the maximum temperature is also 2.7 degrees below normal. In many cities, the daytime temperature has remained up to 7 degrees below normal.

Chamba’s temperature 7.2 degrees below normal
The maximum temperature in Chamba has recorded the biggest drop, where it was noted 7.2 degrees below normal at 25.7 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, temperatures in other major cities have also remained below normal. In Shimla, the maximum temperature was 20.5 degrees, in Sundernagar 28.5 degrees, in Bhuntar 26.5 degrees, in Kalpa 16.8 degrees, and in Dharamshala 26.0 degrees.

Apart from this, a temperature of 31.2 degrees was recorded in Una, 26.4 degrees in Nahan, 25.5 degrees in Solan, 27.8 degrees in Kangra, and 27.8 degrees in Mandi, all of which are below normal. Due to these fluctuations in the weather, people will have to face cold and changing weather for a few more days.
