Himachal Weather: Minimum temperature drops below 5 degrees Celsius at 13 locations, five-day fog alert issued

Cold conditions have intensified in Himachal Pradesh amidst dry weather. Minimum temperatures in the higher mountainous regions have dropped by 2-4 degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature has also fallen in Shimla. On Tuesday, the temperature here was 7.6 degrees Celsius, while it was recorded at 6.5 degrees Celsius last night. Minimum temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius have been recorded at 13 locations in the state. Sunny weather prevails today in the capital Shimla and other parts of the state.

The minimum temperatures recorded were: Shimla 6.5, Sundernagar 4.9, Bhuntar 3.2, Kalpa -0.6, Dharamshala 9.8, Una 6.6, Nahan 8.1, Palampur 3.5, Solan 2.4, Manali 2.3, Kangra 6.0, Mandi 6.7, Bilaspur 8.5, Hamirpur 6.8, Jubbarhatti 6.5, Kufri 5.5, Kukumseri -6.2, Narkanda 3.8, Bharmaur 3.9, Reckong Peo 1.6, Seobagh 3.0, Barthin 6.6, Paonta Sahib 9.0, Sarahan 5.0, Dehra Gopipur 7.0, Tabo -4.7, Neri 10.6 and Bajaura 3.7 degrees Celsius.

Rain/Snowfall Expected on These Days
According to the Meteorological Center Shimla, very light to light rain/snowfall is likely at some places in the higher hills of the state on December 28 and 30. The weather will remain clear for the rest of the week. There will be no significant change in maximum and minimum temperatures in the state during the next 3-4 days.

An orange alert has been issued for dense to very dense fog at some places in the lower hilly areas and plains during the morning or late night hours from December 24 to 28. A fog alert has been issued for some areas of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Solan, and Sirmaur districts.

Drought-like conditions prevail in many parts of the state.
According to the Meteorological Center, the weather will remain dry for the next four days in the mid-mountainous regions, including Shimla. Due to the prolonged absence of rain and snowfall, drought-like conditions have developed in many parts of the state. This is likely to affect water sources and agriculture.
