Himachal Weather: Clouds to bring rain for five consecutive days

A forecast indicates that Himachal Pradesh is likely to experience continuous rain and snowfall for five consecutive days. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre in Shimla has also released its seasonal temperature outlook for the summer season (April to June).

Additionally, it has issued a forecast regarding monthly rainfall and temperatures for the month of April. According to the department, there is a moderate to high probability (45–75 percent) that, during the period from April to June 2026, the average minimum temperature in most parts of Himachal Pradesh will likely remain above normal.

Similarly, there is a moderate probability (45–65 percent) that the average maximum temperature in Himachal’s high hills—and the adjoining middle hills—will likely remain above normal. During April to June, the average maximum temperature in the state’s lower hills, plains, and the adjoining middle hills is expected to remain normal.

Also during April to June, there is a moderate probability that in several parts of the state’s middle and lower hill/plain regions, the number of heatwave days will be 35–65 percent higher than the long-period average.

For the month of April, there is a low to moderate probability (33.5–55 percent) that rainfall in several parts of the state will exceed normal levels. Conversely, some parts of the Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts are expected to receive less-than-normal rainfall during April. There is a moderate to high probability (55–75 percent) that, during April 2026, the average minimum temperature in most parts of the state will remain above normal.

Meanwhile, the average maximum temperature in most parts of the state’s lower hills/plains—and the adjoining middle hill regions—is expected to remain normal. However, in most parts of the middle and high hill regions, there is a strong likelihood that the average maximum temperature will remain above normal.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, light rain or snowfall may occur in certain areas of the state’s middle and high mountainous regions on April 1 and 2. Similarly, light to moderate rain or snowfall is likely at several locations across the state on April 3 and 4. On April 5, 6, and 7, light to moderate rain or snowfall is anticipated at various locations within the state.

Meanwhile, no significant change in the minimum temperature is expected in the state over the next 3–4 days. Over the next 2–3 days, the maximum temperature in the state is likely to rise by 2–4 degrees Celsius. Subsequently, during the following 2–3 days, the maximum temperature in the state is expected to drop by 3–6 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, skies remain overcast today in Shimla and other parts of the state.
