At present, the weather in Himachal Pradesh has provided some relief. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather across the state will remain clear on Wednesday and Thursday, giving people a feeling of mild warmth. However, this relief is not expected to last for long. IMD has warned that a fresh western disturbance will become active from Friday, which will again change the weather in the state.

As a result, the weather will be bad across the state from April 17 to 19. During this period, light rain is likely in the lower and mid-altitude areas, while light snowfall may be seen again in the higher mountainous regions. In addition, strong winds with a speed of about 30 kilometers per hour are also expected in several areas. Hailstorms may also occur in some places.

Apple growers’ worries increase

The weather department’s forecast has increased the worries of apple growers. At present, apple flowering is taking place in the medium and higher altitude areas of the state. In such a scenario, rain and snowfall can prove dangerous for apples. Rain, snowfall, strong winds, and hail can cause severe damage to the flowers. Especially in areas below 6,500 feet, recent rain and snowfall have already caused significant damage, and now the threat looms over higher areas as well.

114 percent more rain than normal in April

Meanwhile, the month of April has recorded much higher rainfall than normal so far. Between April 1 and 14, where the normal rainfall is usually 27 millimeters, this time 57.9 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded, which is 114 percent more than normal. Due to continuous rain and cold weather, the temperature has also remained below normal.

However, over the past 24 hours, there has been a slight feeling of warmth in the plains, but in most parts of the state, temperatures are still being recorded below normal.
