Himachal Weather: Rain likely until June 7; alert issued for tomorrow in three districts.

While the plains are sweltering in the heat, the peaks of Himachal are witnessing snowfall—even in June. Amidst this shifting weather pattern, several parts of the state, including Shimla, received rainfall on Monday. In the capital city of Shimla, heavy showers lashed down briefly around 4:00 PM. Light snowfall was reported in the high-altitude regions, including the Rohtang Pass. A noticeable drop in temperature was recorded following the rain and snowfall.

Rainfall is forecast to continue across the state until June 7. A “Yellow Alert” has been issued for June 3 in Chamba, Kangra, and Kullu, warning of strong winds gusting between 30 and 40 kilometres per hour, along with the possibility of lightning strikes. This change in weather conditions is expected to extend to other districts in the coming days.

On Monday, skies remained overcast throughout the day in the districts of Kangra, Mandi, and Chamba. The cloud cover in these districts led to a drop in temperatures, offering residents some relief from the heat. Meanwhile, the sun shone brightly throughout the day in Una on Monday.

The weather remained pleasant during the morning and evening hours. Following the rainfall received over the past few days, the temperature in the Una district was recorded at around 34 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, there is a likelihood of rain at most locations across the state on June 4. On June 5, light to moderate rain and snowfall are anticipated at several places within the state. Light to moderate rain and snowfall are also expected at select locations on June 1, 3, and 6. On June 2 and 7, there is a possibility of light rainfall at isolated places across the state. Additionally, over the next 3 to 4 days, the minimum temperatures in certain parts of the state are expected to rise gradually by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.
