Himachal Weather: Rainfall 28% above normal in the first five days of May

Weather conditions continue to remain adverse in several parts of Himachal Pradesh. According to data from the Meteorological Department, rainfall recorded in the state during the first five days of May was 28 percent higher than normal.

For the period spanning May 1 to May 6, 13.9 millimeters of rainfall was considered normal; however, the actual rainfall recorded was 17.8 millimeters. Rainfall exceeded normal levels by 367 percent in Bilaspur, 197 percent in Hamirpur, 168 percent in Kangra, 160 percent in Mandi, 284 percent in Shimla, 336 percent in Sirmaur, 304 percent in Solan, and 317 percent in Una district.

Conversely, rainfall was lower than normal by 49 percent in Chamba, 51 percent in Kinnaur, 6 percent in Kullu, and 89 percent in Lahaul-Spiti. Today, the capital city of Shimla and its surrounding areas are experiencing sunshine accompanied by light cloud cover.

Meanwhile, over the last 24 hours, rainfall was recorded as follows: 17.6 mm in Shimla, 13.2 mm in Nahan, 7.4 mm in Kahu, 6.2 mm in Barthin, 5.5 mm in Sarahan, 5.2 mm each in Solan and Palampur, 4.2 mm in Malraon, 3.4 mm in Dharamshala, 3.2 mm in Brahmani, 2.7 mm in Shillaroo, 2.6 mm each in Shri Naina Devi and Una, and 2.0 mm each in Jogindernagar, Rohru, and Mehre Barsar.

Weather Forecast Until May 12
According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, there is a possibility of light rainfall in certain parts of the state on May 6 and 7. From May 8 to May 10, the weather across the state is expected to remain clear. A forecast for renewed rainfall in several parts of the state has been issued for May 11 and 12.
