Himachal: 400 roads including Chandigarh-Manali highway blocked due to landslide, alert for heavy rain for four days

In Himachal Pradesh, 400 roads, including a national highway, are closed due to landslides at various places due to rain. People’s difficulties have increased due to the closure of roads in the middle of the apple season. It has become difficult to transport fruit and vegetable crops to the market.

Till 10 am on Saturday, 704 electricity transformers and 178 water supply schemes were also closed in the state. 240 roads, 300 electricity transformers and 105 water supply schemes are still disrupted in the disaster-hit Mandi district. 99 roads and 382 electricity transformers are closed in Kullu district. Waterlogging occurred at many places in Una district due to rain. The maize crop has also been damaged due to water accumulation in the fields. Farmers are worried due to this.

Long queues of vehicles are due to the closure of Chandigarh-Manali road due to landslide

Chandigarh-Manali National Highway is closed due to a landslide between Kullu and Mandi. Due to this, the movement of vehicles has stopped. Vehicles going from Kullu district towards Mandi are standing at various places from Bajaura to Panarsa, Nagwain, Takoli, Aut. These vehicles include passenger vehicles as well as vehicles loaded with fruits and vegetables that are not able to reach the Mandis.

Rain will continue for these many days

Last night, Naina Devi recorded 112.4 mm rain, Pandoh 102.0 mm, Raipur Maidan 74.6 mm, BBMB 67.0 mm, Pachhad 67.0 mm and Narkanda 66.5 mm rain. According to the Meteorological Center Shimla, the forecast of rain in the state is to continue till August 15. An orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain has been issued for many parts from August 11 to 14. While there is a yellow alert for July 9, 10 and 15.

208 people have lost their lives in monsoon so far

208 people have lost their lives in this monsoon season in the state from 20 June to 8 August. 313 people have been injured. 37 people are still missing. During this period, 94 people have died in road accidents. So far, 2,277 kutcha-pukka houses, shops have been damaged due to cloudburst, landslides, floods. 1,870 cow shelters have also been damaged. 1,609 domestic animals have died. The total figure of loss has reached Rs 1,98,810.07 lakh.

Sainj-Newli road connecting 10 panchayats closed due to landslide, people troubled

Sainj-Newli road connecting eight to ten gram panchayats of Sainj valley of district Kullu is closed due to a landslide since 25 July. Incidents of landslides are continuously happening on the road. On Friday night, a landslide occurred from the hill near the NHPC dam site. Due to this, the road was closed to both small and big vehicles. Due to this, thousands of villagers of local panchayats are facing problems. The bus service on this road has been stopped for the last 15 days.
