Himachal Pradesh Weather: IMD predicts Light rain-Snowfall, temperature likely to drop

Light rain and snowfall are expected in Himachal Pradesh in the next two days. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), a Western Disturbance (WD) is expected to activate on February 27th. This will bring rain and snowfall to the higher elevations for two days. Clear weather is expected in the plains and mid-altitude areas.

Light rain and snowfall are expected in the higher peaks of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Lahaul-Spiti districts on February 27th, and in Mandi and Kinnaur districts on February 28th.

Following the rain and snowfall in the higher elevations, temperatures will drop slightly. Currently, they are well above normal. The state’s average maximum temperature is 4.1 degrees above normal, and the minimum temperature is 2.2 degrees above normal.

Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded the highest increase of 7.6 degrees Celsius, reaching a maximum temperature of 15.0 degrees Celsius.

Kangra’s temperature rose 5.9 degrees above normal to 26.2 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar’s temperature rose 5.7 degrees above normal to 24.8 degrees Celsius, Shimla’s temperature rose 4.6 degrees to 18 degrees Celsius, and Bhuntar’s temperature rose 5.7 degrees to 24.8 degrees Celsius.

February saw 82% less rainfall than normal.

The state has received very little rain and snowfall this winter. The winter season has seen 39 percent less rainfall than normal, and February has seen 82 percent less rainfall than normal. The normal rainfall in the state between February 1st and 23rd is 81.3 mm, but this time only 14.6 mm of rain fell.

Similarly, between January 1st and February 23rd, the normal rainfall is 166.6 mm, but this time only 102.1 mm of rain fell.
