Himachal: Weather will change due to Western Disturbance; rain and snowfall expected

The weather in Himachal Pradesh is likely to change due to the activity of a Western Disturbance. Rain and snowfall are expected in the state for five days. This has raised hopes of breaking the long spell of drought in the state. A ​​cold wave and fog alert has also been issued for some parts of the state for two days. The night temperature was recorded below 5 degrees Celsius at 20 places in the state. At six of these places, the minimum temperature was zero, and at two places it was below freezing. Today, the weather remains clear in the capital and surrounding areas. A cold wave was recorded in Barthin, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, Kangra, and Mandi. Fog prevailed in Una and Paonta Sahib.

Rain and Snowfall Expected from this Date
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain clear in the state on January 15th. The Western Disturbance will become active from the night of the 15th, due to which rain and snowfall may occur in the middle and high mountainous regions of the state between January 16th and 20th. Rain is likely in the plains. Rain and snowfall are likely in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti. Rain is also expected in the plains on January 19th. Prior to this expected change in weather, a yellow alert for a cold wave has been issued for several areas of the state on January 14th and 15th. An alert has also been issued for dense fog in the morning and evening until January 15th in districts adjacent to reservoirs.

Maximum Temperatures
Tourists faced difficulties due to the cold wave in Koksar, Atal Tunnel Rohtang, Jalori Pass, and Darcha since morning. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature was 14.6 degrees Celsius in Shimla, 19.0 degrees in Dharamshala, 18.4 degrees in Una, 18.8 degrees in Nahan, 19.2 degrees in Solan, 15.2 degrees in Manali, and 19.8 degrees in Kangra.
