Himachal: Wife gets drugs for her jailed husband, caught during investigation

A case of attempted drug trafficking has come to light in the Mandi District Jail. The wife of a prisoner, accused of drug trafficking, attempted to smuggle drugs into the jail. Following the recovery of 1.3 grams of the drug, the police arrested the accused woman as per regulations and issued a notice.

According to police, during a routine visit on Thursday afternoon, a woman attempted to smuggle a suspected narcotic substance into the jail through her clothing. The substance was recovered during a security check. The case came to light following a complaint from the Assistant Superintendent of Jail, Mandi. The complaint stated that Sunita, wife of Suraj Kumar Sharma, resident of Post Office Bagachanogi, District Mandi, had come to meet her husband during a routine visit to the jail.

During the visit, the woman attempted to smuggle a suspicious white substance into the jail through her clothing. Jail staff on duty recovered the substance during a security check. The substance appeared to be a drug, weighing approximately 1.3 grams. Following the incident, police have filed an FIR against the accused woman. It should be noted that drug addicts have repeatedly become a problem for the police.

Accused drug addicts have had to be taken to the hospital due to drug cravings and deteriorating health. In this case, the accused’s wife was also involved in the smuggling to satisfy the drug craving. Meanwhile, Mandi Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar stated that the investigation is being conducted in accordance with the law, taking all aspects into account.
