Heavy Rain Alert for Himachal Pradesh; Monsoon Damage Crosses Rs 4,500 Crore

Shimla: There is a yellow alert for rain in 7 districts of Himachal Pradesh today. These include Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Seoul and Sirmaur districts. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in these districts today.

Heavy rains can also be seen at some places. Meteorological Center Shimla has predicted that the monsoon will weaken in the state from tomorrow and the weather is forecast to remain clear throughout the state.

386 people died in the monsoon season

According to the state disaster department, 386 people have lost their lives in the monsoon season. Out of these, 76 people have died due to floods, cloudbursts and landslides, while 40 people are missing. Government and private property worth Rs 4500 crore has been damaged in this monsoon season.

1392 houses razed to the ground

In the state, 1392 houses have been completely razed to the ground, 6114 houses have been partially damaged, 30 thousand domestic animals have died, 529 shops and industries have been damaged and 6162 cow sheds have been destroyed.

133% more rain so far in September

From 1 to 12 September, 133 percent more rain than normal has occurred. In this period, 150.4 mm of rain has occurred as compared to the normal rainfall of 64.6 mm. Kullu district has received 363 percent more rain than normal, Solan 256 percent, Una 241 percent and Shimla has received 231 percent more rain than normal.
