Shimla: The 100-foot-high tricolor installed on the ridge of Himachal’s capital Shimla will be shifted to another place. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has issued instructions to the local administration regarding this. Shimla Urban MLA Harish Janartha said that a place is being looked for nearby on the ridge.
Harish Janartha said that the ridge has become wider due to the renovation work of the part right in front of Ashiana on the ridge. In view of this, the flag will be shifted from the middle of the ridge to another place.
The Public Works Department (PWD) is working on leveling the ridge. This work is being done under the supervision of the Municipal Corporation.
It is being told that the 100-foot-high flag installed in the middle of the ridge can be shifted to the Taka Bench along the ridge. Tourists coming to Shimla from all over the country capture the flag in their mobile and it creates a feeling of patriotism among the youth.
This tricolor was installed on the ridge in the year 2015 at a cost of Rs 13.55 lakhs. The flag is 9.25 meters long and 6.25 meters wide, and is installed on a 30-meter-high automatic flag post. Currently, it is being maintained by Shimla Municipal Corporation.
