Rampur: Construction of a new bridge in the Brauni Khad area in Rampur of Shimla district may start soon. The National Highway Authority has sent the new design of this bridge to the central government.
This bridge will be 300 meters long and 100 meters high. Three lanes will be built in it. A budget of Rs 129 crore has been kept for the construction of the bridge. The Chief Engineer of NHA has approved the DPR.
At the end of January, a special team conducted a soil investigation here. Further action has been taken on the basis of this report. The condition of the national highway in this area has been bad for the last several years. A large part of the road has been damaged due to landslides and land subsidence.
The main route to the Indo-Tibet border
This route is the main route to reach the India-Tibet border, Spiti and Kinnaur. An area of about one kilometer on both sides of the ravine has been completely damaged. The authority has already spent crores of rupees on building a crate wall here.
According to NH Rampur’s Executive Engineer KL Suman, construction work will start as soon as the Centre’s approval is received. This bridge will provide relief to commuters and the distance will also be reduced by one kilometre. The design sent earlier was rejected by the Centre. Now a three-lane design has been prepared as per the new guidelines.
