60 year old bridges to be reconstructed in Himachal Pradesh, Public Works Department conducted audit

60 to 70 years old bridges will be reconstructed in Himachal Pradesh. Their foundation has been completed. The Public Works Department has conducted an audit of vehicle-worthy bridges. The condition of many bridges is bad. These bridges are repeatedly demanding repairs. In such a situation, they will be removed and new bridges will be constructed. The state government has purchased 28 Bailey bridges. These will also be installed at those places. Where the bridges were destroyed during the disaster.

There are more than 3,00 bridges in Himachal. Vehicles move on them. The government had asked teams of engineers at the zone, division and sub-division level to inspect the bridges and submit a report. Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that 21 bridges destroyed in the disaster in Himachal in the year 2023 will be constructed afresh. These bridges will be built in Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-3. The Union Rural Development Ministry has approved an amount of Rs 140.90 crore for the construction of these bridges. Out of this, Rs 126.81 crore will be borne by the Rural Development Ministry and Rs 14.09 crore by the state government. Bridges are to be constructed in Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti and Mandi.

The Public Works Minister is going to Kullu. During this, he will inspect the collapsed bridge near Sainj-Ot-Luhri National Highway-305. This bridge was built in 1970. Until the RCC bridge is built, a Bailey bridge will be installed here. Instructions have been given to the officials of the Public Works Department regarding this.
