You can apply for home voting till May 12

The Election Department will provide postal ballots to the eligible people at their homes for voting. Voters can apply for home voting till May 12. For home voting, Election Commission officials go to the voters’ homes and get them to vote.

State Chief Electoral Officer Manish Garg said that voters can apply for home voting till May 12. Till now about 97 thousand forms have been filled. After their sorting, home voting facility will be made available to eligible voters.

It is necessary to apply within 5 days of the issue of election notification

Special polling parties conduct voting through postal ballots. Eligible applicants applying for home voting have to submit Form 12-D to the Returning Officer of their Lok Sabha constituency. It is necessary to apply within 5 days of the issue of election notification. After the application is approved, two representatives of the Election Commission along with the polling team come to the voter’s house and get the voting done through the ballot paper.

They get the facility to vote sitting at home
Section 27A of the Conduct of Election Rules 1961 provides the facility of voting from home under the absentee voter category. Home voting is given to voters whose age is 85 years or more, disabled voters with more than 40 percent disability or those engaged in any other essential service.

Inspection squad will not change the route without the permission of the election officer
Amidst the preparations of the Election Commission for conducting the Lok Sabha elections in a fair manner, the Commission has issued instructions to the inspection squads not to change the route without permission. GPS should not be switched off in the vehicles of inspection squads. If this happens, strict action will be taken.


Inspection squads have been formed by the Election Commission for monitoring at the assembly level


The Election Commission has instructed these inspection squads to keep a constant vigil in the border areas also so that the elections are not affected.


Apart from this, instructions have been given to continuously patrol the main roads as well as the link roads.
The Election Commission has instructed the micro inspection squads to work in coordination with the concerned SDM.
