Shimla: A major accident was averted on Monday morning at Jubbarhatti Airport in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla. According to the information, the Alliance Air plane that arrived in Shimla from Delhi was stopped by applying emergency brakes. The plane was landed on half the runway. The plane’s tyre burst in the middle. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and DGP Dr. Atul Verma were also present in this plane.
It was fortunate that the plane did not go out of the runway and a major accident was averted. On the other hand, after this accident, the next flight to Dharamshala has been canceled due to security reasons. Information regarding why the plane was landed on half the runway is not yet available. The technical fault in the plane is being investigated.
Mukesh Agnihotri, who reached the assembly, said that only DGCA will tell what exactly went wrong in the plane. But during landing, the plane went beyond the designated place and there was a strong jolt. The plane did not stop at the designated place. The runway had ended. After this, all the passengers were kept in the plane for 20 to 25 minutes. There were about 32 to 34 passengers in the plane. Due to the cancellation of the flight, many MLAs from Dharamshala could not come to Shimla. Meanwhile, CM Sukhu said that information has been received from the police that the plane’s tyre burst mid-air and emergency brakes had to be applied. The Civil Aviation Minister will be spoken to in this matter.
