Kangra: The district administration is fully prepared to deal with any kind of disaster during snowfall in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Disaster Management Hemraj Bairwa held a meeting with the district officials of all departments and directed them to complete their preparations before snowfall.
He said that the district administration is fully alert to keep the life of the people smooth in the district during winter and to provide electricity, water and ration in the rural areas as well as to fulfill all kinds of needs including traffic.
The DC instructed the officials that every department should appoint one nodal officer for disaster management during winter and share their mobile numbers with the District Disaster Management Authority. He instructed the concerned department officials to open the roads closed due to rain and snowfall during winter on a priority basis, and to keep the electricity and drinking water system smooth.
It was informed in the meeting that ration has been stored from November to March in the snow-covered areas including Bara Bhangal. He also directed the Health Department to arrange for all life-saving medicines in these areas.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed all SDMs to hold a meeting with all the officers of their area including telecom operators and make all necessary arrangements in view of winter at their own level. He said that wireless sets are also being made available to all SDMs by the District Disaster Authority.
