Kiratpur-Manali four lane in danger: Sundarnagar bypass sinks

In the Mandi area of Himachal Pradesh, Vehicular movement on one lane closed, constructed with 90 crores.

Mandi: After heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane road is again in danger. Sundarnagar bypass, built at a cost of about 90 crores, has started sinking. Given this, one lane has been closed for vehicles as a precaution.

Big cracks have started appearing in the middle of the road and the lower part of the parapet built on the side of the road on the bypass in Pung, Sundarnagar. These days, it is raining daily in the state. Sundarnagar has received the highest rainfall during the last 24 hours.

This has increased the danger to the bypass. Let us tell you that a bypass has been built from Pung of Sundarnagar to Naulakha on the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane road. Vehicle movement started on this highway on June 19. But now one of its lanes has been closed.

This has also raised questions about the quality of road construction. In such a situation, if the bypass collapses, then tourists, along with locals, will have to face trouble in the coming days. Last year also, this four-lane was damaged due to heavy rains.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the four-lane road from Kiratpur to Pung of Sundarnagar on March 10 by connecting virtually from Delhi. But the work of four-lane is still going on at many places, from Sundarnagar to Manali. Due to this, the Sundarnagar bypass could not be inaugurated yet.

But it was completely ready. Now it has been closed again. The distance from Kiratpur in Punjab to Pung in Sundarnagar has been reduced by 37 kilometers.
