Shimla: Amid the ongoing Financial crisis in the state, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu said in the assembly that employees will be paid salary on 5th September and pensioners will be paid pension on 10th September. The decision has been taken in view of the financial condition of the state and until the economic condition of the state improves, employees and pensioners will continue to receive salary and pension on 5th and 10th respectively.
The Chief Minister said this decision has been taken to avoid interest spent on unnecessary loans. This will save Rs 36 crore annually. He said, that salary and pension are paid on the 1st of the month in the state, whereas we get Rs 520 crore in Revenue Deficit Grant from the Government of India on the 6th and Rs 740 crore in Central Share Tax from the Centre on the 10th.
“Because of this, we have to take loan for 5 days. By paying 7.50 percent interest every month, we have to pay Rs 3 crore in interest. This will reduce the unnecessary burden of interest. He said, every month Rs 1200 crore is spent on the salary of employees and Rs 800 crore on pension. In total, Rs 2000 crore is given to the employees and pensioners”, he added.
The Chief Minister further said, “System will not be applicable to the boards and corporations in the state. The boards and corporations will continue to pay salary and pension to the employees as per their own discretion.”
