Bilaspur, May 23: The police arrested Himanshu Monga, principal of the Government Hydro Engineering College in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh late last night. A student of the college has accused the principal of sexual harassment. The Technical Education Minister has ordered an investigation. The Bilaspur police has also expedited the investigation by filing an FIR against Himanshu Monga.
The protesting students alleged that the principal often harasses the girls and calls them to his cabin and does obscene acts. The principal is accused of sending obscene messages and calling the girls. They are threatened if they do not respond.
A video related to obscene acts with a student admitted in the hospital also went viral on social media on Thursday. In this, the principal is seen doing obscene acts with the student by putting his hands under the blanket on the bed.
After this video and the victim’s complaint came to light on Thursday, angry students protested till late night in the college campus and burnt the principal’s effigy. During this, the family members kept raising slogans against the principal till late night. In Sundarnagar College too, a copy of the complaint related to Himanshu Moga’s misbehavior with a student has come to light yesterday.
During this time, angry students burnt the effigy of the principal in the college campus itself. The students calmed down after the police arrested the principal. The victim’s statement may be recorded in the court today.
The accused is a resident of Lakhanpur Ward No. 11, near Police Line, Bilaspur.
He had also committed indecent acts with a girl student in Sundar Nagar College
It is alleged that when the principal was posted in Sundarnagar Engineering College of Mandi district, a student had complained to the college management about the inappropriate behaviour of the principal. Statements of the girl students were also recorded, but no action was taken. Now even after becoming the principal of Bandla College, his behaviour has not changed.
The case should not be suppressed: Student
A student of the college told the media that parents send their children to hostels so that their children remain safe. But the children are not safe even in the hostel. He has demanded not to suppress the case and strict action should be taken against the principal.

Bandla Panchayat Pradhan Satish Thakur said that Himanshu Moga harasses girls. He calls them to his cabin. He does dirty things with them. He has demanded strict action against the principal. He said, strict action should be taken against the principal.

SP Bilaspur Sandeep Dhawal said that the principal has been arrested. Police have registered a case on the complaint of the student and investigation is going on on all aspects.

Meanwhile, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani called this incident shameful. He talked to the Director of Technical Education and the Secretary about it. He said that the student’s complaint came a few days ago.
Its investigation has been handed over to the Sexual Harassment Committee of the Technical Education Department. This committee is headed by the female principal of the Polytechnic College. She has asked to submit the investigation report within two days. She has assured appropriate action in this matter.
