Dehra: Congress has feilded CM’s wife Kamlesh Thakur by giving the slogan ‘Dehra ki beti’ for Dehra By elections.
Let us tell you that the maternal family of CM Sukhu’s wife, who belongs to the Nadaun assembly constituency of Hamirpur district, comes in the Nalsoohan Panchayat of Kangra district. Nalsoohan village and the entire panchayat come in the Jaswan-Paragpur assembly constituency. By-election is currently being held on the Dehra seat.
There are more than 500 houses and about 1250 voters in Nalsoohan Panchayat. But none of these Nalsoohan Panchayat residents will be able to vote for their daughter and CM’s wife Kamlesh Thakur even if they want to.
86 thousand voters on Dehra seat
There are 42000 male voters and 42491 female voters on Dehra assembly seat. In total there are 84491 voters here. Including service voters, there are 86314 voters on Dehra seat, who will decide the fate of Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur, BJP’s Hoshiyar Singh and independent Sanjay Sharma on Dehra assembly seat.
CM’s prestige at stake
Chief Minister Sukhu’s prestige is at stake on Dehra seat. Victory or defeat on this seat will prove to be decisive for the political career of the Chief Minister, because before this Chief Minister Sukhu could not get the lead for the Congress candidate in the Lok Sabha elections from his Naidun assembly seat.
Sukhu made his wife a candidate from the seat considered to be the stronghold of BJP
Now he has made his wife a candidate from Dehra seat, which is considered to be the stronghold of Bharatiya Janata Party. The concern for Congress is that till date Congress has not won the election even once on this seat. Dehra seat came into existence after delimitation in the year 2008. In the year 2012, BJP’s Ravindra Ravi won the election from here.
In the year 2017 and 2022, independent Hoshyar Singh reached the assembly by winning the election, who is now contesting on a BJP ticket. Congress has not been able to win this seat even once so far. To break the chain of defeat, the Chief Minister has fielded his wife.
Elections for the second time in 18 months
The people of Dehra will elect their MLA for the second time in 18 months. In the year 2022, the people here sent independent Hoshyar Singh to the assembly. But after voting for the BJP in the Rajya Sabha elections, he resigned from his post and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Due to this, a by-election has come here in just 18 months.
Voting is to be held on July 10
