Himachal: Ragging in medical college

Dr. Milap said that two students involved in ragging have been expelled for one year each and a fine of Rs 1 lakh each has been imposed.

Kangra: A case of ragging has come to light in Tanda Medical College, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Senior trainee doctors of the college have been accused of ragging. Based on the preliminary investigation report of the anti-ragging committee, the college management has expelled four students. This has been confirmed by Tanda Medical College Principal Dr. Milap.

Dr. Milap said that two students involved in ragging have been expelled for one year each and a fine of Rs 1 lakh each has been imposed on them, while two other students have been expelled for 6 months. A fine of Rs 50,000 each has been imposed on them.

Junior students had accused four senior MBBS trainees of ragging in Tanda Medical College. The college’s anti-ragging committee started an investigation on these allegations. The allegations made by the junior students were found to be true in the investigation. Action was taken on this basis. However, the college management has not made public the information about what was done to the junior students in ragging.

Dr. Milap said that action has been taken against the guilty students as per the rules. Any kind of indiscipline will not be tolerated in the college. He said that the police has also been informed.

DSP Kangra Ankit Sharma said that the matter of ragging has not yet come to the notice of the police. If any such complaint is received from the college administration, action will definitely be taken.
