Shimla, May 9: It has been raining continuously for the last several days in different areas of Himachal Pradesh. Today, there is an alert of rain and thunderstorms in 9 districts. So far in May, there has been 27 per cent more rain than normal.
Heavy rains occurred in many areas of the state including Shimla last night. At the same time, light snowfall also occurred on Thursday in the high altitude areas of the state including Rohtang and Kunjum Pass and Koksar Valley of Lahaul.
Apart from this, light rain also occurred at many places including Dharamshala, Chamba. At the same time, the plains of the state remained sunny during the day. Rain has started in many areas of the state since this morning. It is raining in Kangra, Sujanpur. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in many areas today.
At the same time, a yellow alert has also been issued for dust storms at some places. According to the Meteorological Centre Shimla, light to moderate rain is expected in many parts of the state from 9 to 13 May. A dust storm is expected to run at a speed of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour in some places. The department has also issued a yellow alert for this.

The weather department has issued an alert of rain and thunderstorm in 9 districts except the three plain districts of the state. Yellow alert will be in place in Chamba Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla Solan, Sirmour, Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti, while the weather will remain clear in Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur.
