Pekhubela Solar Power Project inaugrate, set to generate 6.61 crore units annually

CM Sukhu said that Himachal Pradesh is moving towards becoming the first green energy state in the country.

Una: Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu today dedicated the 32 MW Pekhubela Solar Power Project constructed by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited at Pekhubela in Una district to the people of the state. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of this solar project on December 2, 2023, and in about four months, power generation from this project started on April 15, 2024. It was formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister today. The Pekhubela project has been constructed on 49 hectares of land for Rs 220 crore.

The Chief Minister said that this project will generate 6.61 crore units of electricity annually, and the state government will get a revenue of Rs 19.17 crore at the rate of Rs 2.90 per unit per year. 82,656 solar modules have been installed in this project, and the electricity generated from the project is being evacuated from the Rakkad-Tahliwal transmission line.

The Pekhubela Solar Project will reduce carbon emissions by 2,532 metric tons per year. He said that 19,200 man-days were generated during the construction of this project.

CM Sukhu said that Himachal Pradesh is moving towards becoming the first green energy state in the country. To achieve this, the state government has set a target of installing 500 MW of solar power at Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited. He said that to achieve this target, the corporation has allotted 47 MW to the construction work of three solar projects. Out of these, one solar project has been completed, and two other solar projects are under construction. The Chief Minister said that tenders have been invited by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited for seven solar projects of 72 MW, and the DPR for four solar power projects of 54 MW is being prepared.

He said that there are 10 solar power projects of 77 MW whose pre-feasibility report is being prepared. He said that FCA permission is being obtained for solar power projects of 50 MW, while other solar power projects of 200 MW are in the exploratory stage. These projects include 160 MW solar projects located in the Una district, 110 MW solar projects in the Solan district, 170 MW solar projects in Kangra district, 50 MW solar projects in Mandi district, and 10 MW solar projects in the Bilaspur district.
