Cloudburst in Himachal, flood on road in Gambharpul

At around four in the morning, a flash flood came in the Udaipur sub-division of Lahaul Spiti district after heavy rain last night.

Kunihar: A cloudburst incident occurred in Gambharpul, in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, at around 2.30 p.m. After this, there was heavy rain in Gambharpul and surrounding areas for seven to eight minutes. Due to this, a lot of debris came to Gambharpul, and the highway connecting Kunihar to Nalagarh was closed.

After the rain, debris entered three shops in Gambharpul. Due to this, a Dhaba was razed to the ground, and a house was also partially damaged.

Two vehicles were also damaged in the sudden flood. Due to the closure of the highway, long queues of vehicles have formed on both sides of the road. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this accident. However, a person got stuck in the debris along with his younger son.

According to the local people, the drain got flooded after heavy rain due to a cloudburst in Jyawala village, just above Gambharpul. Eyewitnesses Bunty and Virendra told us that as soon as the rain started, a loud sound was heard. Hearing this, everyone ran out of their houses. In no time, Krishnalal’s Dhaba on Gambharpul got submerged in the Gambhar River.

He said that the debris also entered Aman Pandit’s house. Children were playing here. One of these children got caught in the debris. But Aman pulled the child out of the debris in time. The people of the area are scared and frightened by this incident. SDM Arki Yadavendra Paul reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
