Shimla: There is a lot of discussion about fielding Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, from Dehra assembly seat of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh. Chief Minister Sukhu has put an end to these discussions on Saturday.
After returning from Delhi, during a program at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), the Chief Minister said that he does not know who is spreading rumors about his wife contesting elections.
The Chief Minister said that he had definitely gone to Delhi. But the tickets could not be decided yet. He said that soon the party will field its candidates in Nalagarh, Hamirpur and Dehra. The Election Department has issued a notification for by-elections on these three seats.
Nominations will be filed for this till June 21. BJP has already fielded its candidates. But Congress is still brainstorming.
These Congress leaders are in the race for tickets
Bawa Hardeep is considered to be ahead in the race of Congress ticket contenders in Nalagarh. Bawa Hardeep is the leader of the Holy Lodge group. Sources say that on this seat, Chief Minister Sukhu can give ticket to former MLA Lakhwinder Rana, who joined BJP in 2022, by inducting him into the Congress.
On the other hand, in Hamirpur, Chief Minister’s political advisor Sunil Bittu and Dr. Pushpendra are in the race of ticket contenders.
CM’s wife’s name in discussion from Dehra
Dr. Rajesh is considered to be a strong contender for the ticket from Dehra assembly seat. But here, apart from Chief Minister’s wife Kamlesh Thakur, the name of former BJP minister Ramesh Dhawaala is also in discussion. Now Chief Minister Sukhu, Congress State President Pratibha Singh and the party high command have to decide on the ticket.
